First Visit FAQs

Common questions about your first appointment

Before Your Visit

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your insurance cards, photo ID, list of current medications, and any recent dental X-rays or records from other offices. If you haven't completed them online, bring completed patient forms.

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your first appointment. This gives you time to complete any remaining paperwork and get comfortable in our office.

Do I need to fast before my appointment?

No fasting is required for routine dental visits. In fact, we recommend eating normally before your appointment. If you're scheduled for a procedure requiring sedation, we'll provide specific instructions.

During Your Visit

How long will my first appointment take?

Your first visit typically takes about 1.5-2 hours. This includes completing paperwork, X-rays, comprehensive examination, professional cleaning, and discussing any treatment recommendations.

Will I have X-rays taken?

Yes, we typically take digital X-rays during your first visit unless you've had recent X-rays we can obtain from your previous dentist. Our digital X-rays use 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays.

What if I'm nervous about my visit?

We understand dental anxiety is common. We offer various comfort options including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, iPods with music, warm blankets, and pillows. Let us know about your concerns so we can help you feel comfortable.

Payment & Insurance

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major dental insurance plans including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, and many others. Call us with your insurance information and we'll verify your coverage before your appointment.

What if I don't have insurance?

We offer affordable membership plans starting at $27/month that include cleanings, exams, X-rays, and discounts on all procedures. We also provide flexible payment plans through CareCredit.

When is payment due?

For routine visits, copayments are due at the time of service. For larger treatments, we'll provide a detailed estimate and discuss payment options. We never want cost to be a barrier to necessary dental care.
