First Visit & New Patients

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your insurance cards, photo ID, list of current medications, and any recent dental X-rays or records from other offices. If you haven't completed them online, bring completed patient forms.

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your first appointment. This gives you time to complete any remaining paperwork and get comfortable in our office.

Do I need to fast before my appointment?

No fasting is required for routine dental visits. In fact, we recommend eating normally before your appointment. If you're scheduled for a procedure requiring sedation, we'll provide specific instructions.

Dental Services & Treatments

How long will my first appointment take?

Your first visit typically takes 60-90 minutes. This includes completing paperwork, X-rays, comprehensive examination, professional cleaning, and discussing any treatment recommendations. See our complete first visit guide for more details.

Will I have X-rays taken?

Yes, we typically take digital X-rays during your first visit unless you've had recent X-rays we can obtain from your previous dentist. Our digital X-rays use 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays.

What if I'm nervous about my visit?

We understand dental anxiety is common. We offer various comfort options including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, iPods with music, warm blankets, and pillows. Let us know about your concerns so we can help you feel comfortable.

Insurance & Payment Options

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major dental insurance plans including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, and many others. Call us with your insurance information and we'll verify your coverage before your appointment. Learn more about our insurance and financing options.

What if I don't have insurance?

We offer affordable membership plans starting at $27/month that include cleanings, exams, X-rays, and discounts on all procedures. We also provide flexible payment plans through CareCredit. View our membership plans and payment options.

When is payment due?

For routine visits, copayments are due at the time of service. For larger treatments, we'll provide a detailed estimate and discuss payment options. We never want cost to be a barrier to necessary dental care.

Emergency & After-Hours Care

What qualifies as a dental emergency?

Dental emergencies include severe tooth pain, knocked-out teeth, broken teeth with exposed nerves, severe infections with facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or jaw injuries. Call us during business hours and we'll prioritize your care with a same-day appointment when possible. Learn more about our emergency dental services.

Do you offer same-day emergency appointments?

Yes, we offer same-day appointments for dental emergencies during our business hours. If you're experiencing severe pain or have an urgent dental issue, call us as early as possible and we'll do our best to see you the same day.

What should I do if I knock out a tooth?

Time is critical! Handle the tooth by the crown only, rinse gently with water if dirty, and try to reinsert it into the socket. If not possible, store it in milk or saliva and call us immediately during business hours. We can often save the tooth if you reach us within an hour.

Technology & Comfort

What advanced technology do you use?

We use digital X-rays (90% less radiation), intraoral cameras, dental lasers (at select locations), digital impressions, and advanced sterilization systems to provide the most comfortable and effective care possible.

What comfort options are available?

We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation, iPods with music playlists, warm blankets, comfort pillows, and complimentary paraffin wax hand treatments. Just let us know what would help you feel most comfortable.

Is sedation dentistry safe?

Yes, sedation dentistry is very safe when administered by our trained professionals. We'll review your medical history, monitor you throughout the procedure, and provide detailed pre and post-care instructions.

General Dental Care

How often should I visit the dentist?

Most patients should visit every 6 months for professional cleanings and check-ups. However, some patients with gum disease or other conditions may need to visit every 3-4 months. We'll recommend the best schedule for your needs.

At what age should children first visit the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children visit by their first birthday or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing. Early visits help establish good habits and prevent problems.

Why are my teeth sensitive?

Tooth sensitivity can be caused by worn enamel, exposed roots, cavities, cracked teeth, or gum recession. We can diagnose the cause and recommend treatments like special toothpaste, fluoride treatments, or bonding to reduce sensitivity.
