Dr. Trung Ngo

Dr. Trung Ngo was born and raised in the heart of the midwest in Indianapolis, Indiana. He grew up a huge sports fan and attended Indiana University at Bloomington for undergrad. Majoring in biology, he graduated and decided to further his education with his Masters in biology at Purdue Indianapolis. After completing his Masters in 2000, he decided to relocate to sunny California to figure the next step in his life. One of the things he looked into was the dental profession, and he volunteered at a free clinic in Share Our Selves in Costa Mesa. He liked the idea that it combined his passion for art with the ability to help people. At that clinic he met another volunteer, his friend and now practice partner, Derick Nguy, and the rest you can say is history.
Fast forward almost 20 years and Dr. Ngo has graduated with a degree in hygiene and another in dentistry at the prestigious University of Southern California. He was part-time faculty at USC from 2004 through 2010. He met and became an associate for Dr. Dana Rockey and worked with him until Dr. Rockey handed the practice over to Dr. Ngo. Continually striving to get better, he and his team take continuing education to be on the current edge of dental technology. With a team of Dr. Derick, the best hygienists around and a caring team, Mountainside Dental Group caters to giving patients dental therapy with thought and care.
Dr. Ngo is an adoring husband and doting father. He loves sports, fantasy sports, collecting sports memorabilia, traveling, art, and considers himself an amateur “foodie”.
Dr. Michael Welcome
General/Cosmetic Dentist
Dr. Michael Welcome was born and raised in the central California coastal city of Salinas near Monterey Bay. In 1980, he began his undergraduate studies pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine campus.
He bolstered his education in the health sciences by working as a research assistant in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Welcome headed to the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry to earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
Dr. Welcome settled in South Orange County in private practice in both Irvine/Newport Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita. He is the proud father of 5 children raised in our beautiful city of RSM for the past 28 years.
DR. JASON CHEN
General/Cosmetic Dentist
Dr. Jason Chen is a dedicated dentist from Taipei, Taiwan, who is now practicing in Orange County, California. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from USC Dental School in 2021. Dr. Chen chose to begin practicing here in Orange County to be close to his wife, Emily, who is a medical student and researcher at UC Irvine, aspiring to become an ophthalmologist. They have been together for almost nine years, having met at UCLA during their undergraduate years.
Dr. Chen’s approach to healthcare is patient-centered, focusing on unique, tailored treatment plans for each patient to help achieve optimal oral health and beautiful smiles. His favorite aspect of dentistry is the direct impact he can have on his patients’ well-being, from enhancing smiles with veneers to restoring function with dental implants.
Together, Jason and Emily are raising their one-year-old daughter, Arlo, in Irvine—a city they cherish for its family-oriented community. They also have a 13-year-old maltese/yorkie named Ninja, who loves eating watermelon and taking naps.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Chen enjoys long walks with his family, exploring new culinary experiences with friends, and engaging in his hobbies, which include golfing, skiing, cooking from YouTube recipes, and listening to history podcasts. He is also an active volunteer with the Tzu-Chi Medical Outreach Team, reflecting his commitment to community service. Dr. Chen is known among his peers for his relaxed and smooth golf swing, which is something he takes great pride in.
